PAISAJE DE COBRE SERIES

2014-2019

Multiply sizes between 2.5-10"
Cast glass, copper & electroplated copper

Paisaje de Cobre/Copper Landscape is a series I began developing during my studies at Sheridan College. Inspired by Chile's copper industry, the work reflects the raw beauty of these landscapes and political narratives.

Copper is a material deeply embedded in Chile's economic and political history. I explore the tension between natural resources, exploitation, and foreign political interference using hand-forged copper inclusions, hot-cast glass, and electroformed copper. The glass captures a sense of geological time. At the same time, the metal elements reference human intervention—mined, shaped, and repurposed, copying the broader complexities of extraction economies and their impact on landscapes and communities.
