ABOUT ME
Gabriela Wilson is an emerging artist whose work explores themes of diaspora, politics, and identity, using materials such as copper, steel, and glass to convey reflective narratives. Gabriela graduated with a BAH from the University of Guelph, where she focused her studio practice around sculpture, steel fabrication, and 3D printing and modeling—with a solid foundation in Craft & Design from Sheridan College, majoring in glass and specializing in kiln casting, sand casting, and glassblowing. Training at George Brown College in jewellery and gemmology helped build a solid foundation for her practice, making her work a unique intersection of various forms and techniques.

Since graduating from Sheridan College, Gabriela has demonstrated a solid commitment to professional development, attending prestigious institutions such as the Corning Museum of Glass, the Penland School of Crafts, Arrowmont School of Arts & Crafts, and the Pilchuck Glass School. These experiences have sharpened her skills in kiln-formed glass, bronze casting, blacksmithing, and welding.

In addition to her studio practice, Gabriela is dedicated to supporting the glass arts community. She serves on the board of directors of the Glass Art Association of Canada (GAAC) as co-Vice President, working to strengthen connections between artists, promote glass education, and advocate for the medium within Canada’s contemporary arts landscape. Her volunteer efforts reflect a deep commitment to fostering dialogue and opportunities within the field.

Gabriela also has a deep and personal interest in Latin American politics. Through her multifaceted practice, she seeks to create art that resonates on both personal and political levels, using her heritage and experiences to inform and enrich her work. Gabriela is eager to continue exploring these themes, pushing the boundaries of her artistic expression and contributing to the broader discourse on art and politics.
